- This 2007 production is unique in that it incorporates advanced 3-D technology. Each episode features 10 minutes of footage which requires 3-D glasses to view. Prior to its broadcast on QLTV, the TV station made five million pairs of 3-D glasses to distribute to audience members in Shandong Province free of charge and then provided an additional 30 million pairs through its commercial alliances*
- The story is adapted from accounts of Wu Cheng En's life and his most famous work, Journey to the West.
