Synopsis
In 2002, when Xiao Ran, a young prosecutor from the Pingjin City Procuratorate, was reviewing and prosecuting a case in which a bank president was robbed and his family was murdered, the Procuratorate conducted supplementary investigations on its own due to insufficient evidence in the case file. During the supplementary investigation, Xiao Ran discovered many suspicious clues, but ultimately stopped when the suspect escaped.
In the following 15 years, Xiao Ran, who worked at the front line of the criminal investigation department in Pingjin City, did not give up on the case and was always actively conducting supplementary investigations. When assisting the Supreme People's Procuratorate in handling a case submitted by the Pingjin City Procuratorate for approval and prosecution, he rediscovered clues to the murder. Combining his own investigation results over the past decade, Xiao Ran determined that there was another suspect in the murder and that he might still be committing crimes.
Thanks to his persistent efforts, the Provincial Procuratorate and the Provincial Public Security Department supervised the case, and the Pingjin City Procuratorate and the Pingjin City Public Security Bureau respectively set up special task forces to reopen the case. After overcoming many difficulties, they finally successfully prosecuted the previously overlooked criminal, thereby realizing fairness and justice.
