The 71st NHK Asadora drama is ''Wakaba''. In the winter of 2001, Igawa's gardening company helps Eizo to cure an old camphor tree in Suma, a seaside town in southwest Kobe. Masaya comes to see Eizo's work as he is interested in the "legendary gardener.? The next day, Wakaba falls down from a ladder at work and sprains her ankle. Masaya gives her a quick treatment and takes her to a hospital. When Wakaba is resting at her boarding house, Masaya comes and asks her a favor to build a small garden on the balcony of his acquaintance. Wakaba agrees and completes the garden. On Christmas Day, a party is held at the boarding house.
