Notes

  • Filming began on December 2016.
  • The media noted its similarities to the popular series Love in the Moonlight (KBS, 2016) as both are Joseon historical dramas with young lead actors born in 1993 (Park Bo Gum) and 1999 (Kim Yoo Jung).[1]
  • Ruler's OST also features singers K.Will and Hwang Chi-yeul who both released songs for Love in the Moonlight in 2016.[2][3]
  • Was promoted heavily by MBC, with the first teaser released six months before its premiere at the MBC Drama Awards, where leads Yoo and Kim also served as presenters.[4] Regular exclusive Naver features and V Live broadcasts also preceded its premiere.[5][6]
  • The series was pre-produced.[7]
  • Each night's broadcast is divided into two 30 minute episodes with a commercial break in between.
