It's 1930. Xu WenQiang was expelled from his university when he was captured by the police for a protest. That was the last time he saw his love from the university, XiaoYun. After he got out of prison, he went to ShangHai. he got in touch with XiaoYun again. But soon he finds out that she has changed. She was now the woman of ShangHai's mob boss, Mr.Feng, who is the powerfullst man of ShangHai. After WenQian got out of the train to ShangHai he unexpectedly saves a pretty lady, Feng ChengCheng. By then, he didn't know he would later fall in love with her. ChengCheng is the daughter of Mr.Feng. Mr. Feng helps WenQiang and his new friend DingLi become powerful men in the Shanghai Bund. But when WenQiang finds out that Mr.Feng is helping the japanese to breng drugs to china, he turned against Mr. Feng. The japanese wanted to kill WenQian, because he was danger to them. The waited for him at XiaoYun's house. He didn't die that day, But lost XiaoYun when she protected him for a bullet. This serie is a remake from the original serie The Bund/上海滩 (1980), starring Chow Yun Fat as Hui Man Keung (Xu wenQiang) , Angie Chiu Ngor Chi as Fung Ching Ching (Feng ChengCheng) and Ray Lui Leung Wai as Ting Lik (DingLi). The original was cantonese.
