Synopsis
It's 1930. Xu WenQiang was expelled from his university when he was captured by the police for a protest. That was the last time he saw his love from the university, XiaoYun. After he got out of prison, he went to ShangHai. he got in touch with XiaoYun again. But soon he finds out that she has changed. She is now the woman of ShangHai's mob boss, Mr.Feng, who is the most powerful man in ShangHai. After WenQian got off the train to ShangHai he unexpectedly saves a pretty lady, Feng ChengCheng. By then, he didn't know that he would later fall in love with her. ChengCheng is the daughter of Mr.Feng. Mr. Feng helps WenQiang and his new friend DingLi become powerful men in the Shanghai Bund. But when WenQiang finds out that Mr.Feng is helping the japanese to bring drugs to china, he turned against Mr. Feng. The japanese wanted to kill WenQian, because he was danger to them. They waited for him at XiaoYun's house. He didn't die that day, But lost XiaoYun when she protected him from a bullet. He killed one of the leaders, who killed XiaoYun and destroyd all of the drugs. So Mr. Feng and the japanese send more assasins to kill WenQiang. But that was also the time that WenQian was supposed to marry ChengCheng. He let ChengCheng choose between him and her father and when he heard that ChengCheng had chosen her father, he fled to HongKong and started a new life there. He married a woman and almost had a child, but Mr.Feng found out about it and send assasins to kill WenQian and his family. His family died and WenQian went back to ShangHai to seek revenge......

This serie is a remake from the original serie The Bund/上海滩 (1980), starring Chow Yun Fat as Hui Man Keung (Xu wenQiang) , Angie Chiu Ngor Chi as Fung Ching Ching (Feng ChengCheng) and Ray Lui Leung Wai as Ting Lik (DingLi). The original was cantonese.
