Synopsis
Set during the late Qing dynasty, the story follows Yu Chuhao, an academic official who returns to his hometown of Liuli Village in western Fujian. When his clan faces a crisis, he steps forward to protect them, only for the Qing Empire to collapse the next day.
Centered around the century-old earthen fortress of Liuli Village, the story spans several generations and time periods, portraying the lives of its residents as they struggle to survive in turbulent times.
