About Goto Maki
Goto Maki was selected to be in Morning Musume as the only member of it's 3rd generation when she was only just 13. She became an instant favorite among fans, and an idol to many young girls. Gocchin helped Morning Musume reach platinum status by having 2 singles sell more than 1 million copies. Those singles are Morning Musume's "LOVE Machine" and "Koi no Dance Site". She soon established herself as a talented singer and dancer and took the lead on a large number of Morning Musume tracks. In the fall of 2002 she graduated from Morning Musume to pursue a solo career and has since released three albums, as well as a number of singles. Though her success varies with each new single she releases, there is no doubt that Maki is one of H!P's more popular acts, like Natsumi Abe, Aya Matsuura and Morning Musume.
On October 20, 2007 Maki announced that she would be graduating from Hello! Project, and she would also be leaving Up-Front Agency. Her graduation was said to be because she was overworked and overly stressed, resulting in health problems. She also had different ideas of the direction of her career than what her Agency had planned. She re-opened her blog on March 25, 2008, and revealed that she was in Los Angeles, California, taking singing and dancing lessons for different types of music, including R&B, Jazz, and Hip-Hop. In mid-June, rumors of her having signed with the label Rhythm Zone, an Avex Trax sub-label, were confirmed.
