At the age of 16 in 1991, she entered the music scene as part of the trio Girl's Team. Faced with the group's lack of success, Vivian ventured into modeling and acting before making a comeback in Japan with a Japanese album in 1996. Not content with that, Vivian embarked on a crash course in Korean, releasing a Korean album later in 1996 with limited promotion in Korea. She joined the J-pop group Black Biscuits in 1997, which was formed as a rival to Pocket Biscuits. Vivian continues to explore her talents in the entertainment industry as a singer, actress, and producer.

Learning one foreign language must not have satisfied her enough, as she went through a speed course on "how to speak Korean in one week" and released a Korean music album in the latter part of 1996. Due to rising stardom in Japan as well as a multi-million dollar contract from her planning agency, Vivian left her activities in Korea relatively unpromoted and focused back to her activities in Japan.
