My Secret Romance is a drama in which comedy abounds in a remarkable way, although of course, good humor is not at all easy to digest, after all, it is something perceptive for everyone. The comedy in My Secret Romance is remarkable because it is uninteresting and hollow, it's a feel-good drama plain and simple.

What do you get when a rich, handsome, lonely boy appears before a poor, decent looking girl who doesn't succeed in love or work? You have a typical regurgitated drama plot.  Although that synopsis can compose the plot of up to 80% of Korean romantic dramas, there's no doubt that there is a need a high caliber scriptwriter capable of transforming mediocre or at least decent material into something impressive and enjoyable to watch.

Romance is of everyone's interest and taste, and romance makes up 100% of the DNA of an average drama, it's remarkable because love is always something you want to have and it's an important part of everyday life and it's what makes a human being able to live on. In this drama, love is only subject to the most disastrous and conflictive situations ever seen.

My Secret Romance is at large a bitter disappointment, its not even original or doesn't even try to be original in the first place, It begins in a decent way, and follows a course that is above all inexorable and predictable, until as it approaches the final episodes it begins to decline in quality to conclude with an ending that is truly outrageous and will make viewers feel annoyed and question what they have just seen.

It has its fair share of positive aspects, for once it began at a fast and interesting way, the lead character as portrayed by Sung Joon has the looks and the chiseled body of an alluring Greek God for a girl to fall in love to, but his acting is completely unremarkable, incredibly bland, and of course devoid of emotion. As for his co-star Song Ji Eun, she was a better performer a bit bland in a few scenes but that could be because of the quality of the script that it is completely devoid of character development.

There were many romantic and passionate scenes between the two of them that were really very engaging, and no matter how underwritten the characters of both actors are, they truly shine above the weak material, at least in the love or commonly know "smoochy scenes", in fair truth both actors manage to transmit a credible and palpable chemistry.

The supporting cast doesn't fare better, in fact, the supporting cast is even worse, but once again, it must be reiterated that the script is at fault here, the supporting cast its astonishingly underdeveloped, and the few scenes that will perhaps make someone chuckle will last for a few moments before the scene continues to drag on its feet.

There are few cameos that don't add up and aren't funny in the slightest, The cinematography alone wasn't entirely capable of generating any interest around the drama, many close-ups and media-shots were commonly used in a boring manner, the lighting is appeared to be aceptable, the clothes for each and every character were exquisite and gorgeous to look at. The dressmaker was able to explain better who the characters were than the scriptwriter ever did on the page.

The OST was decent, the score for the drama, on the other hand, was trying to poke fun at the drama but it failed miserably with an overabundance of gag cartoon sounds, ironic considering that every character on the drama acts like an immature child. The scriptwriting on this drama is laughable, with cheesy lines and laughable dialogue, several conflicts under the false pretense of providing drama and the ending is wrong because of it, the story is underdeveloped and not at all interesting, the pacing is slow but a boring one at that.

The Drama is only worthy of recommendation it to someone if that someone is bored and needs to kill some time before doing something else.
