Synopsis

Shen Jialan, the eldest granddaughter of Grand Academician Shen, is betrothed to Lin Jinqi, the eldest grandson of the Minister of Personnel's Lin family. But when turmoil strikes the imperial court, her grandfather is accused of treason and the Shen family is massacred. To protect themselves, the Lins break off the engagement and form a marriage alliance with the newly favored Zhao family.

Saved by Xu Wanquan and his wife, servants of the Lin family whom Jialan's mother once helped, Jialan assumes the identity of their daughter, Xu Lanxiang, who has just died of illness, and becomes a low-ranking maid in the Lin household. Refusing to bow to fate, she strives for a happy life for herself and her family while fighting against injustice and oppression.

With her kindness and intelligence, Lanxiang breaks free from the constraints of her social status, wins Lin Jinqi's heart, and earns the trust and respect of the entire Lin family. She eventually becomes the head of the household, takes control of her own destiny, clears the Shen family's name, and seeks justice for them.
