Synopsis

Ye Li, the eldest daughter of the Ye family, is married into the dilapidated Prince Ding's manor to wed the wheelchair-bound Prince Mo Xiuyao. On the very same day, Prince Li, Mo Jingli, weds Ye Li's younger sister, Ye Ying. As a descendant of the Lishan lineage, Ye Li was once confined deep in the mountains for eight years. After her marriage, she maintains a facade of tranquility while secretly orchestrating the downfall of every official who once persecuted Lishan one by one. Her covert campaign soon draws the suspicion of her husband, Prince Mo Xiuyao, himself a man bent on revenge. As both pursue their own hidden agendas, a boulder is hurled into the seemingly placid lake of the court.

Meanwhile, Prince Li, Mo Jingli, Ye Li's childhood companion, hides behind the unsavory reputation of an "opera-obsessed prince," all the while stirring currents in the shadows and plotting to seize the throne. In the end, Ye Li joins forces with Mo Xiuyao to guide the young emperor into power, crushing the successive schemes of the Marquis of Muyang and Prince Li, and restoring lasting peace to the realm.
