About

Shiori Kutsuna was born on 22 December 1992 in the suburbs of Killarney Heights in Sydney, Australia. She had a quiet childhood under the loving upbringing of her devoted parents, her parents were of Japanese nationality they had emigrated from their country of origin to Australia. Shiori Kutsuna spent her complete childhood there, but that didn't change the fact that her parent took upon themselves to teach her all about Japanese culture and they even coached her in speaking as well as writing Japanese.

She was living in Australia until she was fourteen years old, it was at that age when she decided to return to Japan, she did it mainly for two reasons, to discover herself and to fulfill her dream of becoming an actress. In Japan, she had plenty of opportunities to improve her Japanese language skills. In 2011, after graduating from Horikoshi High School in Nakano, Tokyo, alongside fellow actresses Mayuko Kawakita and Riko Narumi she decided to go to college to earn herself a degree and to be able to furnace a career path.

She abruptly dropped out of college a couple of years later in 2013, before starting her third year in college in order to be able to focus solely on her acting career. It was difficult for her to keep the proper balance between her college studies and her acting career, it was tough for her because she kept failing classes because of her work schedule acting in several television dramas.

In 2009, she starred in the lead role in 7 Mannin Tantei Nitobe, she portrayed Tsugumi Nitobe a plain ordinary college student who has thousands of friends on the internet and how she solves cases because of their help and guidance. It was her first lead role and she was the drama series center of attention, her role earned her praise by critics and audiences alike.

On 2012, she was named the Best New Actress of 2011 by film magazine Kinema Junpo. Her professional profile in television and film was increasing more and more. In 2017, she was confirmed to be part of the cast of Deadpool 2, in the role of Yukio opposite actors Ryan Reynolds, Zazie Beets and Josh Brolin. She is currently filming a Netflix original titled Murder Mistery that is going to be release sometime in 2019.
