The five deities were once inseparable as seniors and juniors in the same sect, working together to seal the demons. Baili Hongyi sacrifices herself and sealed the demon Jiu Ying within her own body. The other four deities also sealed their own memories and powers, letting this incident become one of the past. Only "autumn god" An Tingfeng refuses to do so because of his reluctance to give up on his love. He lived on for a thousand years, becoming a wandering soul. He thinks of all ways and came up with a plan to release the evil beast Jiu Ying, bringing chaos to the world once again.

The Dayou kingdom was established by the Baili family, and coexists with their enemies - the Wolf Tribe with only a mountain separating them. The Emperor and the Crown prince consecutively passes away, and the youngest prince Baili Haozhi ascends the throne. Due to his young age, Baili Haozhi's mother and his relatives assist him in ruling. Although the sons of the deceased crown prince, Baili Hongxuan and Baili Hongshuo are loyal to the emperor; constantly emerging victorious in battles and helping to protect the peace of the country, the court officials are still wary of the two princes. Baili Hongzhi trusts the two princes and wants to help them rise in power, but lack the authority to do so. Meanwhile, the new leader of the Wolf tribe, Ming Yefeng finds out the true identity of Baili Hongyi, the daughter of Prince Pingyuan. This secret pushes the Baili family to the deep abyss.
