Park Shin Hye was born on February 12, 1990, in Gwangju, South Korea. When she was in 6th grade at Hak-Kang Elementary School in Gwangju, she auditioned for the lead role in the music video "Got Flower" at the music company of pop singer Lee Seung Hwan. Shin Hye passed the audition, joined the company, and began training there as a singer. Through her roles and requirements, she demonstrated an instinctive talent for martial arts and dance, thus becoming a talented dancer.

She suddenly became famous when she played the younger version of Han Jung Suh in the highly popular Korean drama Stairway to Heaven. She released a digital single, "Prayer," a song she sang for the SBS drama, Tree of Heaven, starring with her former Stairway to Heaven co-star, Lee Wan. However, the single was not released on the official soundtrack. Because of both performances, she gained great credibility as an actress, since then she has made many commercials and modeled for some Asian companies.

She later made her big screen debut in the horror film Evil Twin / The Hometown of Legends in a dual role, she then starred as one of the leads in the romantic comedy series Goong S, which in turn was a spin-off of 2006's Goong. Goong S was a disappointment and it failed to attract viewers, although Park Shin Hye's acting was praised.

Park Shin Hye began to gain even more popularity through her starring lead role in You're Beautiful with co-star Jang Geun Suk. Another of her dramas, Heartstrings, began airing on June 29, 2011, and Jung Yong Hwa, her co-star in You're Beautiful, played the lead male role alongside her. She starred once again on the big screen in the sleeper hit Cyrano Agency, and also starred in her first ever Taiwanese drama in 2011's Hayate the Combat Butler, based on the popular Japanese manga of the same name.

In 2013, she starred as the lead in Flower Boys Next Door alongside co-star Yoon Shi Yoon, the same year she made a cameo on the smashing hit Miracle in Cell No. 7 (2013), it became one of the highest grossing Korean films of all time. She would end up reaching even higher levels of fame by appearing on Kim Eun Sook's written drama Heirs, the series was an absolute hit nationwide and worldwide. Park Shin Hye became an overnight sensation all across Asia. She won several coveted awards for her performance on the hit drama series alongside her co-star Lee Min Ho.

In 2014, without ever slowing down she once again accepted the lead role in the SBS drama Pinocchio. It once more earned her more than her fair share of accolades, the romantic comedy-drama series was a smashing hit and cemented her name as a brand in Asia. Two years later, in 2016, she appeared in the lead role in the SBS drama Doctors, alongside Kim Rae Won. The drama topped viewership ratings nationwide, and it was one of the most successful Korean dramas exported worldwide, it broke high viewership numbers in China.

Currently, she has been confirmed to make her small screen comeback in the upcoming tvN drama Memories of the Alhambra, set to premiere in December 2018.
