Actress Hasegawa talks about steamy screen role  Actress Hasegawa talks

about steamy screen role Actress Kyoko Hasegawa charmed fans with a

pre-screening appearance of her new movie, "Female," a compilation of five

short films focusing on the eroticism of women of different ages. "Female"

is drawn from five different novels written by five different women

writers, with each short being directed by a different auteur.

Hasegawa, who has made a name for herself playing squeaky clean characters,

has gone for a different approach with "Female," tackling the steamy role

with gusto. "Female eroticism oozes from a mature woman's body," the

27-year-old actress said. "I was delighted to play a role in a work that

feels so erotic. It was a fun role." Hasegawa, clad in a see-through black

blouse, tight skirt and black high heels, attracted cries of "sexy" and

"beautiful" from among the 300-plus crowd of mostly women in their 20s and

30s. Among those accompanying Hasegawa was actress [[Takaoka Saki]], who plays

the lead in another of the short films making up "Female."

Takaoka wore a revealing beige dress that emphasized her cleavage. Director

Suzuki Matsuo recommended "Female" for "Takaoka's bold sex scene," drawing

a blush from the 32-year-old actress. "How embarrassing. I want to get away

from here," she said. She went on, however. "A woman's body, just being a

woman in itself, is erotic," Takaoka said.

Attending the pre-screening greeting for fans were the actresses, four of

the five writers who contributed to "Female" and all five of its directors.

There was also a short concert by music producer Ryosuke Imai, who produced

the main theme song for the compilation.

"Female" opens in movie theaters in Tokyo on May 14. (Mainichi Shimbun,

Japan, May 11, 2005)
