Broken characters

It sounds strange, I noticed that some CJK characters are broken in many pages. I tried to correct, e.g., the page of Sekai no Chuushin de, Ai wo Sakebu but two days later I found that those characters are broken again (the history does show that I am the last modifier). Although this wiki is designed for english speakers, I think it should keep names of titles/artists correct in their mother languages. Any idea? --Panasonic 11:32, 8 Feb 2006 (EST)

To answer Panasonic's question... We've settled on the idea that the kana names should be kept only in their primary articles, and to leave them out of any other articles linking to the primary. Trying to provide both the romaji and kana in EVERY SINGLE ARTICLE adds bulk to the database, and overall it is just redundant information that can otherwise be found in their primary articles. Also given the fact that every Japanese speaking person can read romaji. AND, the Japanese has their own drama wiki database at ja.wikipedia.org. So in the case of the article you were referring to, I'd remove the kana from all the artist references within the article. Groink 13:31, 8 Feb 2006 (EST)

Dramafever.com

Is the addition of external links by this user Dfever really allowed on Dramawiki? That guy keeps promoting his website while in fact the streaming is only for US and Canada area. Page moves citing DMCA Notice

I noticed that you moved a whole bunch of pages to new, rather irregular page titles, citing DMCA Notice, which I assume has to do with some copyright issue with the original page addresses. Unfortunately, this has resulted in hundreds of broken links between the show and artists pages. Need Help Fixing Internal Links

Hi,

Yesterday and today I moved around 60 pages due to DMCA notices. Even though the said pages were not in violation. I had to move them because they were linked to infringing sources.

FritzB, yes, we do need help to fix all the internal links that have been broken due to the page moves.

I will add cleanup tags to the pages maybe later today or tomorrow. In the meantime, if you can find them and fix them, great!

Okay. I've fixed all of the associated links for Athena: Goddess of War (2010-2011). I'll do more as time permits.

To be perfectly honest, I'm not too thrilled with some of these new page titles like My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox (Nae Yeojachinguneun Gumiho)‎. They are rather ungainly and inconsistent with the Manual of Style. Would it be okay if I changed some of them again to something more in keeping with the rest of the database (as long as it is different from the original page title)? For instance, the previous example could become My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox (2010) or My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox (SBS). For many of the individual Artist pages, just adding the year of their birth in parentheses, such as Lee Dong Gun (Lee Dong Geon) -> Lee Dong Gun (1980) would be much better imho. We already use that general format is used a lot to readily distinguish different artists with the same name. --FritzB (talk) 16:24, 10 September 2018 (UTC)

I have to agree with FritzB. Toda Erika (Actress, Model). In this example, do we really have to list every profession up in the page title? I think we should maintain a much simpler naming format and at the very least drop ", Model". --Zemus (talk) 17:39, 10 September 2018 (UTC)

Suggestions to Expand Page Content and Wiki

I would like to know your thoughts on:

• Adding a "Review" section at the bottom of the page, before "External Links." Review needs to be detailed with at least 500 words. Multiple users can leave reviews under the same section by creating a new sub-section. Sub-section could look something like:

       === Review by User:Ruroshin ===

• Expand the "Main Cast" section. If possible, add description about the roles.

• Allow comments by registered users using CommentStreams.

Also, please share any suggestion(s) that you have in mind.

Have page content standards been changed?

I'm not sure if you have noticed, but several relatively new users have been adding large amounts of mostly non-drama related "fan" content to various pages (several recent examples: Onew, Gackt). By the existing Manual of Style, much of this info would qualify under DramaWiki:DramaWiki_is_not. These include things like extensive biographies, lists of Variety Show and Radio appearances, concert tours dates, and tons of fan trivia.

I have already deleted some of the more blatant fancruft, only to have it put back. I am not an admin here, so rather than enter into some frustrating edit war with other users, I would like to confirm whether this sort of material now permitted on DramaWiki?--FritzB (talk) 15:22, 3 October 2018 (PDT)

I have talked to Nova984 and told him about not adding any fancruft content in Trivia sections, or anywhere else. I don't mind detailed biographies as long as it is factual information. I think we've been too restrictive in the past.

We have to have more information on Artists and Shows pages because organic and direct traffic to DW has fallen significantly over the past few years. If we continue to add minimal info, I'm afraid that we're going fall further back in Google search. --Ruroshin (talk) 22:11, 3 October 2018 (PDT)
