Christmas is coming up. Kenjiro’s elder brother Shoichi promises Kenjiro’s children that he will ask Saint Claus to come to see and give them anything they want. Shoichi intends to buy them the presents with the money he has made on horse racing. On Christmas Eve, Shoichi drinks at a neighboring pub with his acquaintance dressed as Saint Claus and falls asleep drunk. On the morning of Christmas, he wakes up to find his money stolen. The stereo Shoichi ordered as a gift for Noboru is delivered and Kenjiro pays for it. Meanwhile, Shoichi advises Machiko, who is struggling with her new literary work, to write about her marriage. Machiko starts writing episodes of her days with Kenjiro, putting him as the leading character.
